New Spoke Farmer & Member Agreements

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a partnership between grower and eater. It’s more than just a weekly subscription. When you sign up for a New Spoke Farm share, you’re paying in advance for your share of the harvest. You’re also taking on some of the risk that comes with farming seasonally in Maine. Farming is unpredictable: much of it is out of our control - weather, disease + pest pressures, and other factors can all contribute to the successes and failures each season. We can’t guarantee exact quantities or perfect quality for every crop that we grow each year due to many of these circumstances that are out of our control as farmers.

Our commitment to our members: In return for your support, we’re thrilled to stock your kitchens each week and welcome you into the fold of the farm. The CSA is the heart of our farm; knowing our members is what reconnects us to this work and is our motivation. We send a weekly newsletter during the growing season that outlines what to expect in the share that week, and includes recipes, tips for getting the most out of your produce and notes from the field. We’re honored to supply you with healthy, fresh produce and do not take your trust lightly. We promise to never use any non-organic inputs (synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, sprays, etc) and to never knowingly use treated or genetically modified seeds or plants.

When you sign up for a CSA share, you understand the following:

  • The 2026 share runs for a 22 week window, beginning in June and running until mid/late-October. Our target start date is the week of June 1, but this date depends on weather and crop availability.

  • Members pay & pick up for 18 weeks of your choosing during the 22 week window. Members will have 2 built in ‘skip’ weeks that allow for any 2 weeks of your choosing off from the share. If no weeks are taken off, members will have the option to pick up & pay à la carte for the last 2 weeks, or end your share at the 18 week mark.

  • The farmers will take 2 weeks off from distro entirely during the 22 week window: these dates will be determined over the winter and shared with members before CSA begins in the spring. There will be no distribution during those 2 weeks — these dates do not affect the 2 ‘skip’ weeks allocated to each CSA member.

  • The FULL share price is $38.61 per week, for a total of $695.

  • The LARGE share price is $44.44 per week, for a total of $800.

  • The HALF share price is $26.94 per week, for a total of $485.

  • Members acknowledge that there is a $20 cash discount for all share sizes when shares are paid for by cash/check. For members who select to pay by card, the discount will not be applied. These members will be invoiced via Square and/or Quickbooks, with payment due 14 days from invoice date.

  • When you sign up, you are agreeing to pay for your share and submit payments on time. You can pay the full amount at registration - which helps the farm immensely - or you can put down a deposit of 30% (for FULL and LARGE shares). Payments must then be made in four monthly installments beginning in May with the final payments made by August 15.

  • HALF Shares must be paid in full or with a 50% deposit, with a second payment due by June 15.

  • If a deposit is a challenge, please email us at newspokefarm@gmail.com to coordinate a different payment plan. We want our CSA to be accessible to everyone! We strongly believe that everyone should have secure access to fresh, local foods and we will work with you to come up with a payment option that fits everyone’s needs.

  • We grow over 60 types of vegetables for the CSA each season. Each week we will offer 8-12 items for you to choose from, according to your share size.

  • Our CSA is free choice when possible. At times, we may have to limit take on certain items so that every CSA member has a chance to receive that vegetable. CSA members are part of a community: please respect these limits when they are instituted.

  • You are responsible for picking up your share every week or designating a friend/family member/neighbor to pick up for you. Someone else can pick up for you anytime - we appreciate a heads up, but it’s not necessary. They must pick up during regularly scheduled pick up hours.

  • You may come to any of the available pick up locations that week if you miss your pick up at your regular location. Please note that shares not picked up by Saturday of that week will be considered forfeited that week (excluding extenuating circumstances).

  • Members do not have to pre-schedule their ‘skip’ weeks, but if you know you are going to be out of town and want to let us know ahead of time, we greatly appreciate it.

  • If you have not let us known ahead of time, the first 2 missed pick ups will be considered your ‘skip’ weeks.

  • Any subsequent missed shares will be considered forfeited that week and donated. If you are running behind, or something comes up last minute, you can always text or call us to let us know so we can arrange another option.

  • We are unable to offer substitute shares outside of the scheduled CSA season.

  • Cancellations. If you need to cancel your share, please email us at newspokefarm@gmail.com. Cancellations are subject to a $75 cancellation fee and refunds may be offered on a prorated basis. If you move, or find for some other reason that your share isn’t a good fit in your life, we encourage you to gift or trade it to someone else in your circle before requesting a cancellation.

  • Cancelled distributions. We try our very best to meet our commitment to 18-weeks of fresh produce but with an increase in extreme weather events, natural disasters and general climate chaos, we are beholden to the weather and what we can pull from the fields. Members understand that we do all we can to avoid cancelling CSA distributions, but during unforeseen circumstances this may be a possibility.

  • Due to our small size, there are some crops like potatoes or winter squash that we can’t dedicate enough field space to during the season, so we typically plan to source some items from other local, certified organic farms we know.

Thank you for your support! We love growing for you!
